This week I start off the conversation on the racist roots of gun control by taking you to church with me. Hoping to help you get a flavor for the thought behind the protest and the confusion. Music is live from my church, in the old tradition of Negro spirituals.

Zombie Strike, #19, News, and commentary about the Second Amendment March. visit www.urbanshooterpodcast.com for pictures and links to more Cool Stuff.

This is just part one of a month long tribute to history and our past. “A Mightly Long Way” is sung by a friend and member of my church in the tradition of our ancestors.

Zombie Strike, Chapter 19 will be heard as I prepare to re-mix and put twenty chapters together with a ebook for urban shooter fans of the weekly zombie saga. It will give you time to catch up and share in the fun.

The end music was done by Min. Isaac E. Howard, from his CD, Mega Praise. http://www.howardministries.com/Music.htm#SGROBJ7D8A1D819201F1

* * I misquoted the Bible on the last episode. The quote about the “fool and his money” I think is one of Shakespeares’.

I got a chance to meet people that I only hear on my podcast this week. Richard from Guns, Holsters and Gear was one of them. He is a really nice guy.

I got a chance to meet some really cool guys from Cody, Wyoming, Michael Bane from Downrange TV and the lead instructor from GLOCK.

I had the opportunity to go to the SHOT show in Las Vegas for two days. The shot show is the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference (SHOT Show) is the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports and hunting industries. It is the world’s premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, archery, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, camping and related products and services. The SHOT Show attracts buyers from all 50 states and more than 75 countries. The SHOT Show is owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation

Attendance at the SHOT Show is RESTRICTED to the shooting, hunting and outdoor trade and commercial buyers and sellers of military, law enforcement and tactical products and services ONLY. The show is not open to the public, and NO one under age 16 shall be admitted (including infants).

I went this year for the first time as a media representing THE USP. There are over 55,000 people there and two floors of exhibits. It was a bit overwhelming. I was hoping to meet Mark Craighead of Crossbreed Holsters, Michael Bane of downrange TV, Miguel caballero, and as many people as I could to talk about the USP. I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing dinner with Richard from Guns, Holsters and Gear. I was interviewed by the ProArms Podcast crew and had a fun time with that and met some up and coming people in the firearms industry that are trying to make it like I am.

I got a chance to shoot at media day at the range on MLK day, it was butt cold and raining off and on out there though at the boulder city rifle and pistol range but I made some new friends.

Emancipation Proclamation

“. . . on the first day of January . . . all persons held as slaves within any State, or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.” President Abraham Lincoln, preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, September 22, 1862

President Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation in the midst of the Civil War, announcing on September 22, 1862, that if the rebels did not end the fighting and rejoin the Union by January 1, 1863, all slaves in the rebellious states would be free.

Grandma’s Story

Episode 146 turned out great and I hope you like it as much as I did doing it. It had a few mistakes I missed but the time was right, and it had a good balance of everything. I have to try to keep that recipe and just substitute the different features (“shoot don’t shoot,”jokes, gun reviews, shooting tips, security suggestions, old school wisdom, personal observations) that have evolved on the show. This week, the Gun Rabbi and I ramble, laugh and talk about resolutions. Got to get him a less sensitive mic. I sing an old Ray Charles song, that is so melancholy it makes me laugh. NO one can be that sad but it fit. I tried to start off in one mood and end on a high one. I did. I had fun putting this show together and it all came together even though the creeping crud of congestion is still with me. Zombie Strike cracks me up because Derek is helping me speak better with his word usage. I was told to copyright the story because Hollywood was listening and might take the idea for a series. That was cool. Talked about Watch Night and the African American tradition and could have gone on longer about the Emancipation Proclamation but maybe next time. And I said erroneously that my grandmother “racked” a shell into the shotgun. It was a over and under, double barreled shotgun probably made by Sears and Roebuck. After her two shots that was it. I am happy to announce that Richard and Kelly from Guns, Holsters and Gear are a part of the show, even if I am just helping them advertise their blog. I think that is so cool.

It’s been a great year. Thank you for listening and being a part of our success.
